DFWBGH Kick-Off Meeting for

Lone Star Depression Challenge in the Workplace

Wednesday, February 2, 2022

3:00–4:30 PM (Virtual)

Addressing the Mental Health Crisis in the Workplace

The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated the ongoing mental health crisis in America, with a four-fold increase in adults experiencing symptoms of depression from pre-pandemic levels.  In Texas, 43% of adults reported symptoms of anxiety or depression in Feb. 2021, and 26% were unable to obtain the counseling or therapy they needed.

Employers are particularly concerned about the toll this is taking on employees.  Depression causes an estimated 200 million lost workdays a year at a cost to employers of approximately $44 billion in lost productivity each year.  Depression also contributes mightily to the cost and severity of chronic conditions.  Benefits executives are now tasked with designing robust benefits programs to support the mental health and well-being of employees.

DFWBGH Members Become Part of the Solution

DFW Business Group on Health is honored to partner with Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute (MMHPI) in its Lone Star Depression Challenge (LSDC).  DFWBGH’s role is to help our employer members address depression in the workplace and improve diagnosis and access to high quality, timely and affordable mental and behavioral healthcare in North Texas.
