Walmart Takes the High Road with High Performance  Networks (HPN)

April 7, 2021  |  12:00 - 1:00 CDT  |  Virtual

After a bumpy ride on the COVID road this past year, employers are facing the reality of having to adjust employee benefit strategies and budgets to a changed workplace, worsening health conditions, and continued increases in healthcare costs unhinged from quality.  It’s no surprise that High Performance Networks (HPN) are starting to gain traction in this COVID-altered reality.

Walmart has the size and clout to drive better patient outcomes and squeeze savings from its healthcare budget.  So do companies with smaller footprints, if they’re willing to adjust their network strategies and do business with high performance providers.

In this eye-opening program, Lisa Woods, Walmart’s VP of Physical & Emotional Wellbeing, will describe why Walmart decided to take the high road lined with high performance multi-specialty provider networks, and how this is working out for the company and its employees.  Dr. Daniel Stein, CEO of Embold Health, which manages Walmart’s HPN, will explain how participating physicians’ performance is measured, how Walmart’s HPNs is structured and managed, and where the savings come from.  Julianne McGarry, Catalyst for Payment Reform, will discuss HPN trends, why this strategy has been so slow to catch fire, and what the outlook is for HPNs in the post-pandemic business world.

Speakers:

Lisa Woods, Vice President, Physical & Emotional Wellbeing, Walmart Stores, Inc.

Julianne McGarry, Director of Projects & Research, Catalyst for Payment Reform

Daniel Stein, MD, MBA, CEO & Founder, Embold Health
